Property care in Henry Farm
Henry Farm was built on land sold in 1958 by former Ontario Premier George S. Henry, who died the day after the sale. The East Branch of the Don forms its entire western border, and a high proportion of lots back directly onto the valley.

The housing
Primarily late 1950s and early 1960s. Georgian and Tudor Revival houses, split-levels and bungalows, many built with brick veneer on the ground floor and aluminum siding above.
The canopy
The East Don Valley parkland trail runs through, accessible from Havenbrook Boulevard and Manorpark Court. Havenbrook Park includes toboggan hills.
Winter here
A compact, contained service area with good routing. The valley-backing lots are where access and snow storage need planning.

The material mix changes exterior work
Brick veneer below with aluminum siding above is common here. It changes how exterior cleaning and ladder work get approached, and it is worth knowing before anyone puts a pressure washer near it.
Archaeological sensitivity at Moatfield
Moatfield Farm Park contains a significant archaeological site, a First Nations village dating to roughly six hundred years ago. Ground disturbance in that vicinity carries sensitivity well beyond the ordinary permit regime.
Ravine rules cover grade and walls, not just trees
On a valley-backing lot, regrading a yard or replacing a retaining wall requires a permit in its own right, separate from anything to do with trees.

Henry Farm is in the City of Toronto. The thresholds below are that city's, and they are not the same as the city on the other side of the boundary.
A permit is needed to injure, destroy or remove any private tree 30 cm in diameter or more, measured 1.4 m above ground. Injury includes failing to protect a tree properly during work, so root-zone compaction and regrading count. Penalties run from $500 to $100,000 per tree.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 813, Article IIITurfgrass must be cut once growth passes 20 cm. The same by-law requires properties to be kept clear of prohibited plants, and the named list is exactly what colonises a ravine edge: dog-strangling vine, garlic mustard, common and glossy buckthorn, Japanese knotweed, phragmites, giant hogweed, purple loosestrife, poison ivy and ragweed.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 489No owner or occupant may move snow or ice from private property onto a road, sidewalk or laneway. Sidewalks adjoining the property must be cleared within 12 hours of snowfall ending, and driveways, steps, walks and landings within 24 hours.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 719The City mechanically clears the large majority of public sidewalks once accumulation reaches 2 cm. Below that threshold the 12-hour clearing duty sits with the owner.
Soft landscaping on the City boulevard needs no permit, but boulevard trees are City property and are protected at any size.
