Property care in Lawrence Manor
Lawrence Manor was built almost entirely between 1951 and 1955, and it has the tightest lots of any neighbourhood we serve. Thirty-foot minimum frontages, every house on a private drive. That combination decides most of what is and is not practical on these properties.
Highway 401 to Lawrence Avenue, Allen Road to Bathurst

The housing
Detached brick two-storeys, split-levels and bungalows from the early 1950s, with newer custom builds now interspersed. Apartments and condos line Bathurst.
The canopy
Prince Charles Park sits at the centre of the neighbourhood. Street canopy is mature but the narrow lots mean individual front trees carry a lot of the visual weight.
Winter here
This is the neighbourhood where snow storage genuinely matters. Narrow lots leave limited room on the property, and pushing snow onto the road, sidewalk or bike lane carries a $500 fine plus a $110 victim surcharge. Where the snow goes gets agreed at quote stage, not discovered in February.

Snow has to stay on your property
Chapter 719 and Chapter 743 both prohibit moving snow from private property onto streets, sidewalks and laneways. On a thirty-foot lot after a heavy winter, capacity is a real constraint.
Leaves fall under the same rule
Chapter 743 prohibits storing material, including fallen leaves, where it may reach the street by any means including wind or water. Fall cleanup here has to be contained, not just moved.
Scheduling around the community calendar
Bathurst Street is the spine of a large Orthodox Jewish community. Worth raising when you book so the schedule works around Shabbat and the holidays rather than around them.
The rules that actually apply
City of Toronto,
not the one next door.
Lawrence Manor is in the City of Toronto. The thresholds below are that city's, and they are not the same as the city on the other side of the boundary.
A permit is needed to injure, destroy or remove any private tree 30 cm in diameter or more, measured 1.4 m above ground. Injury includes failing to protect a tree properly during work, so root-zone compaction and regrading count. Penalties run from $500 to $100,000 per tree.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 813, Article IIITurfgrass must be cut once growth passes 20 cm. The same by-law requires properties to be kept clear of prohibited plants, and the named list is exactly what colonises a ravine edge: dog-strangling vine, garlic mustard, common and glossy buckthorn, Japanese knotweed, phragmites, giant hogweed, purple loosestrife, poison ivy and ragweed.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 489No owner or occupant may move snow or ice from private property onto a road, sidewalk or laneway. Sidewalks adjoining the property must be cleared within 12 hours of snowfall ending, and driveways, steps, walks and landings within 24 hours.
Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 719The City mechanically clears the large majority of public sidewalks once accumulation reaches 2 cm. Below that threshold the 12-hour clearing duty sits with the owner.
Soft landscaping on the City boulevard needs no permit, but boulevard trees are City property and are protected at any size.

Protected-area status is checked per address, never per neighbourhood.
This is tableland, not valley edge. The ordinary 30 cm private tree threshold governs rather than the stricter ravine rules.
